ICC, CEVNI Endorsement

CEVNI is a mandatory endorsement to the Inland ICC.
It is an acronym for Code European de Voices de la Navigation European, or Code for Inland Waterways, and governs navigation on all interconnected waterways of Europe. The CEVNI is the "highway code of the inland waterways" and provides a set of signs, rules and procedures.

There are two ways to take the CEVNI test.
We recommend the supervised on-paper test following the left hand column below.
Alternatively you can take the test on-line at the RYA's website following the right hand column.

The School can carry out a supervised on-paper test for the CEVNI either during the Helmsman's and ICC courses or by mutual arrangement. There are 30 simple questions based on sign recognition and are of multiple choice formats. At the Training Centre you will have a short brief, sit a practice paper and then the test paper.

A summary of CEVNI is set out in the RYA "Book of European Waterways Regulations." Book purchase is at a cost of £8:50 including postage.

To book an on-paper orientated test at the School location just give us a call and we will arrange a mutual time and date.

Cost: The CEVNI test by itself at the Training Centre costs £25.

The CEVNI on-line test is a multiple choice paper in two parts. Part 1 is about signs and buoyage and Part 2 is about sound signals, lights and shapes. Fifteen questions are asked in each part, and you must answer at least eleven questions correctly in each part to pass the whole test.

The CEVNI test can taken on-line at RYA Interactive using your web browser.
