ICC, CEVNI Endorsement

CEVNI is a mandatory endorsement to the Inland ICC.
It is an acronym for Code European de Voices de la Navigation European, or Code for Inland Waterways, and governs navigation on all interconnected waterways of Europe. The CEVNI is the "highway code of the inland waterways" and provides a set of signs, rules and procedures.

The test can be practiced at the RYA's web site. We recommend that you practice until you feel confident. Then come to our Training Centre, have a briefing on what is required, sit a practice paper then the test. There are 30 simple questions based on sign recognition and are of multiple choice formats.

The Training Centre can carry out an on-paper test for the CEVNI either during the Helmsman's and ICC courses or by mutual arrangement.

A summary of CEVNI is set out in the RYA "Book of European Waterways Regulations." We recommend this book as required reading of the CEVNI. It will prepare you for the practice papers.

This book should be carried on the boat as reference.
